About Grace Monument Co.
We are a family-owned, family-operated monument company located in the Saginaw Valley city of Vassar, 11 miles east of Frankenmuth. Our business began in 1999 when Dale Hanlin of Hanlin Funeral Homes offered my wife, Dorothy, who was his office manager, the opportunity to sell memorials as our own separate business. We named our part-time business Hanlin Memorials and we sold from our home, often meeting with families in their homes or at the Hanlin funeral homes.
We later changed the name of our business to Grace Monument Co. in honor of Gloria Grace Eddy-Seney, a dear friend who fought brain cancer for around 2 years and died in 2004. We spent some very precious time with Gloria and her husband, Mark, during her last years. Gloria is a great inspiration to us and exemplified God's sustaining love and grace in her sufferings. We also want to honor the Lord Jesus who offers His grace freely to all who will turn away from their sins and trust in Him for salvation from the punishment of their sins.
In the fall of 2009, my daughter Megan said we should open up a showroom. We found a great location on M-15 on the south end of Vassar and remodeled it for monument displays. In March of 2010, we officially opened the showroom, with Megan managing the store and her husband Patrick helping with computers and setting stones. Then, in August of 2011, Patrick and Megan decided to move to Colorado Springs so Patrick could attend music worship classes at New Life Church. Because of their move, I left my position as sales estimator for a manufacturing firm in Saginaw, and now, along with my wife Dorothy, run the business full time.
God has allowed our business to continue to grow. We've helped the veterans groups in Mayville and Millington with their 2 large monuments honoring those who served our country in the military. It was truly an honor helping with these special tributes.
But our greatest accomplishments are always helping families create special memorials to their loved ones' memories. We have helped so many nice people, as they go through this special part of the mourning process.
